TheCutlery is OPEN!!!

Yes, it's official now, TheCutlery (no space between The and Cutlery!) had it's fanfare opening today.
はい、TheCutlery ザカトラリー、正式に開店いたしました！(因みに英文字の　The　と　Cutlery　の間にスペースはなく、ミス・プリントではありませんので悪しからず！)


Kuha`o Zane is the owner and "curator" of this edgiest place in Hilo, and he's got his own brand, Ethnic, in the store as well. In his own words, "TheCutlery will be featuring independent and creative forward labels as well as some locally young yet unique brands"!

クハオ・ゼーンがオーナー兼バイヤーのこのお店、ヒロ一番とんがったお店であることは間違いなし！
彼のオリジナル・ブランド、エスニック、ももちろんこちらでどうぞ！彼曰く、「ザカトラリーはインディーブランドやクリエイティブ系のブランドや、若手デザイナーのユニークなブランドを取り扱ったお店なんだ！」、ということです。


What attracted me most was this original new local brand eeseeo which is clothing made out of bamboo material! How cool is that?!
Well, if you are in Hilo town, make sure to stop by tonight for a bit of celebration at the store at 6pm!

It's called the "TheCutlery" and it will open on Friday December 29 at 11am!

We'll be Open on This Sunday, X'mas Eve!

For those of us who will be doing the last minute Christmas shopping, here's good news...
Sig Zane Designs' Hilo Store will be open this coming Sunday, from 9am to 2pm, on Christmas Eve, December 24th!
We're almost never open on Sundays, but this is a special present from us to you!!!
So please spread the word, and stop by to enjoy the shopping opportunity, because I'm sure there will be new items there waiting, just for you!

Art Exhibition in Yokohama Japan

Aloha Everyone!
How are your preparations for the holidays coming along?
Hope it's not too crazy!
Here is information for an art exhibition in Yokohama, Japan that just opened yesterday! This is the collaborative art exhibition with a Japanese photographer, Motomu Takayama and Sig Zane, which will be going on from December 19 ~ 26, at Galerie Paris, in Yokohama. Admission is free. Sig's silkscreened art works are exhibited along with Motomu's photographs of Hawaiian plants, and the highlight of the exhibition are these special photographs that the two creators worked together in Hilo for this project. Isn't it exciting?
So those of you who are in Japan, please go check-it out!

会期は12月19日(火)から12月26日(月)までで、入場無料です。ハワイアン・プランツと称し、ハワイの植物をシルクスクリーンで表現したシグのアート及び、ハワイヲこよなく愛する高山氏のの海や植物の写真、それから何より目玉は二人のアーティストがハワイ島ヒロにて共同で創り上げた写真です！

Christmas Caroling and New Items!

The Christmas Carolers were here at our store today!
They are the elementary grade children from Kamehameha School who were caroling through downtown Hilo. They definitely brought tons of aloha and holiday spirits as they sang the holiday classics in Hawaiian and English to ukulele accompaniments.

今日はカメハメハ・スクールの小学生がヒロのダウンタウンへクリスマス・キャロルを歌いにやってきてくれました！これは恒例の行事でクリスマスの気分をいっそう盛り上げてくれるので毎年スタッフ全員で楽しみにしているイベントなのです。ウクレレの伴奏にハワイ語と英語で歌われたクリスマスのベストヒット集、という感じの構成で、15分ばかりでしたがとっても季節感溢れた一瞬でした。歌ってくれたケイキ達へ、マハロ～！

Our model Brandy is introducing the Manaloa Dress, which is the sleeveless dress that is below the knee length. Another very popular style with our customers!

Twas Twenty Nights Before Christmas...

Hope everyone is well. Is it just me or do you feel aslo that this year the days just went whizzing by super fast? No kidding, and we only have about 2 weeks to go until Santa time!

皆様お元気ですか?今年は去年以上に時間が飛び去って行ったような感覚を覚えるのは私だけでしょうか?
師走もあと残すところ約３週間、クリスマスまではなんと20日を切りました！


Well, here are some of the giftable items that just came in to the stores for this Chirstmas season (Hilo, Maui, and Website Stores!), so check them out! Some, like the t-shirts, are BRAND NEW items, and some that we haven't seen around for awhile, so it's even exciting for us to see new things come in everyday...

Howzit!? Hope your Christmas shopping is going smoothe... As we prepare for the holidays, it's exciting to know that the renovation is continuing to happen at our "old" store at 122 Kamehameha Avenue as we speak! Just look at the width of the store front, where Sig is standing, and see how wide the store will be!
