Sig Zane Yukata and Bon Dance!

Aloha Everyone!
The Bon Dance Season has started for the Summer 2009! I went to the Papaikou Honganji Bon Dance last weekend, and it was fun as usual with lots of people and dancers.

アローハ!
皆様お元気ですか?先週末パパイコウ本願寺で行われた盆踊り大会に行って参りました♪ハワイでは夏になると盆踊りが殆ど毎週末のように行われ、地元民にとっての夏の風物詩＆集いの場所となっています。


Adults, teenagers, and children all enjoyed the good fun.

Our yukata manufacturer friends in Japan, "Haloa", makes these beautiful one of a kind Sig Zane Designs original yukata. This one is the 'Iwa'iwa print in black and charcoal fabric. This, of course, is the one and only yukata in the universe in this fabric... forgive me for bragging!!!

June 9th was a very special day last week. It was a beautiful day in Waikiki, and at the Sheraton Waikiki's Hawai'i Ballrooms, the 32nd Na Hoku Hanohano Annual Awards Show was held!

New Window New Shops!

The beautiful sunny day is back in Hilo and we're loving it!
Hope all is great in the past month. Can't believe May is half way over already. Are you ready for the summer?!

お久しぶりです。やっとヒロにも初夏のお天気が到来。一時は雨ばかりでどうなることかと思っていましたが、青い空に青い海のハワイらしいお天気が毎日続くようになりました～♪










And as to reflect the sunny days that are perfect for surfing, here are the alaia surfboards that are showcased at Hilo's Sig Zane Designs' store window! These boards are created by Gary Young. According to Sig, you need to be an expert surfer to ride the waves with these boards.
Sig is using the lehua print fabric to adorn the surfboards because lehua also means to be an "expert"!












シグが最近はまっているのが、こちらのシグ･ゼーン･デザインズのウィンドーに飾られたアライアと呼ばれるサーフ･ボードです。こちらのボードはギャリー･ヤング氏による作品で、最近カムバックの兆しを見せているこのクラシック･スタイルのサーフボードに注目が集まっているそうです。シグの話によると、上級者でないとこのボードは使いこなせないんですって～！
ということで、シグがサーフボードを飾った生地のプリントは、上級者、或いは熟練者を意味するレフアのプリントです♪

It's called "E-Claire's Bakery" on 268 Waianuenue Avenue. Claire used to be the cake person at the now closed but longtime Hilo favorite bakery "O'Keefe's". So now we can go get delicious cheesecakes and petit fours again! So call and order your favorite cake for that special occasion! 961-3848, open Mon~Sat.

美味しい（というか日本人の舌に合う）お菓子屋さんがなかなかないヒロでしたがやっと登場しました！
ヒロ･ダウンタウンのワイアヌエヌエ通りにある図書館のすぐ手前です。エクレアやプチフール等もあってオーナーのクレアさん手作りのお菓子が一杯！彼女は今は閉店してしまったオーキーフスというパン屋さんにケーキを卸していた人。なので腕前は実証済み。やっと又あの美味しいチーズケーキが食べれる！電話番号は961-3848、日曜定休、現金のみ。




Last but not least, a Hilo Style Mexican Food can be had at the new Bueno Burrito's. It's fast, affordable and healthy! What more can you want?! It's in Downtown Hilo, on 190 Keawe Street, where Subway used to be.
