Happy Anniversary to TheCutlery 12.29.07!!!

I went to check-out the happening party in town!
It was "TheCutlery's FirstAnniversaryCelebration" party, and it was hopping when I got there!
Not only was it the first anniversary of the store's opening, but it was also owner and designer Kuha`o's birthday as well so there was a very good reason for this celebration!
The food was catered by Aloha Mondays Catering, and it was delicious... mmmmm

皆様週末をいかが過ごされましたか？
私はヒロのダウンタウンにあるクハオのお店、ザカトラリーの一周年記念パーティーに行ってきました！多分ヒロで一番「カッコイイ」パーティーだったんじゃないでしょうか?!大勢の若者の中に混じって楽しませていただきました。
アロハ･マンデイズ、という新進のシェフ二人によるケータリングもちゃんと手配され、美味しいお料理も頂き満足♪この日は単なる記念日ではなく、クハオのお誕生日ということもありたくさんの人が集まったのも納得。


Sig and Nalani were of course there to participate in their son's celebration.

Howzit? Hope your Chirstmas shopping is going well.
That Holiday Buzz is going around and it's truly an exciting time of the year... 5 more days and it's Christmas!

Have you ever seen the magazine called Modern Luxury Hawai`i Magazine? It's totally bilingual (English and Japanese), and the newest Holiday 2007/Spring Preview 2008 issue is out. Would you do me a favor and turn to page 88 (yes, it's the same page in either languages!) and read-up on Sig Zane, please?
It's a great article and so a chance to get to know our man Sig a bit better!

2007 Caroling Keiki!

Aloha Kakahiaka e ke Anuenue, or Good Morning Rainbow is how I started my day this morning. Hilo does rain a lot, but this is what you get too, lots of beautiful rainbows. And in the back, you can see a bit of snow on Mauna Kea which is mostly covered by clouds. All in all, a wonderful way to start the day!

おはようございます！

今朝はこんな素晴らしい虹のプレゼントで一日をはじめることができました。ず～っと奥に見えるのはマウナケア。山の中腹に雪が積もっている様子も見えます。ヒロは雨が多いのですがこんな素敵な虹がしょっちゅう見れるのも雨のおかげですよね♪

And this morning, we were also visited by Christmas Carolers from the 4th grade students at Kamehameha School.

今朝は地元のカメハメハ・スクールの4年生の生徒達がクリスマス・キャロルを歌いにやってきてくれました。

Their singing definitely put us into a Christmas mode for sure!

Mahalo nui loa to the keiki and the teachers!!

かわいい歌声に気分はすっかりクリスマス！

And the Sig Zane Designs store was mentioned in the Seattle Times. A real nice write up about Hilo! We've got real nice leather products in the store as well. My favorite is the one in the window right now, the Honehone Bag...

Twelve More Days Until Christmas!!

It sure has been raining a lot lately, and some snow too on top of Mauna Kea!

Chirstmas @ `Imiloa!

Aloha!
It's been windy and rainy here in Hilo, but just a few days ago, it was a beautiful day at `Imiloa Astronomy Center, and there are lots of wonderful things happening there!
They have the `Imiloa Cafe which is operated by O'Keefe & Sons Bakery (they are open from 7am to 4pm), as well as a garden that is beautifully landscaped with Hawai`i native plants (you can see lots of Sig Zane printed plants there!).
Of course, their main attraction is the Planetarium which is now showing a special Chirstimas program for adults and keikis alike! So enjoy this opportunity since the kids program (Holiday Music Magic) will have it running until January 18th 2008!

Aloha!　このところ雨や風に見舞われているヒロですが、2日前まではこんなすばらしい天気だったんですよ！
上の写真はイミロア天文学センター。オープンして1年半経ちましたが、最近内容がとっても充実してきました！ヒロでは一番本格的なパン屋さんであるオーキーフ・ベーカリーが運営しているイミロア・カフェ、朝食をいただきましたが美味しかったです。それにハワイ固有植物を集めた庭園(シグ・ゼーンのプリントに登場する植物満載!)そして目玉のプラネタリウム…こちらは通常のプログラム以外に現在季節限定(1月18日まで)のクリスマスショーも始まり、家族で楽しめる｢ホリデー・ミュージック・マジック｣というショーもやっています。それでは今日はここいら辺で失礼いたします♪
