Sushi Bar Hime

A new sushi bar in town!
Since our Sig Zane Designs store is in downtown, getting something new here is always exciting!
This tiny joint is on Furneaux Lane (right near Farmer's Market), and they are so new (they were in Maui before) that they don't even have a set restaurant hour, the Japanese sushi chef/owner told me. But they are open for lunch and dinner (Phone # 808-961-6356).
今日はダウンタウンヒロの新店舗情報です！
シグ・ゼーン・デザインズから歩いても直近くの距離にできた寿司バー、ヒメ。ファーマーズマーケットの近くの脇道（Furneaux Lane)にあります。新しすぎてお店の営業時間が決まってない、と仰るのはオーナー兼寿司職人さん。で、お昼の時間帯と夕食の時間帯(夜は8時半頃までとか)にオープン、というヒロらしい(!?)ゆる～い感じで営業しているそうです(電話番号→808-961-6356)。


Look for this cute sign with a black cat with a crown that says "HIME" ( Hime means Princess in Japanese). As you may be able to tell, Mr. & Mrs. Owner love cats and they have three black kitties at home...
目印はこの黒猫ちゃんが王冠をかぶった可愛い看板。猫好きで3匹黒猫ちゃんを飼っていらっしゃるそうです(もちろん自宅で）…


So if you are in town and get the urge to eat a California Roll, head to Hime's... and if it's at night, BYOB your favorite sake!

Storefront Update!

Aloha kakou!
Were you wondering what the "old" Sig Zane Designs Hilo Store looks like now?
Here it is! You can see that it's going to have a much bigger show window space, and the main door on the right.
The renovation will continue for another month and a half or so, and voila! We'll be ready for the Grand Opening!
Will keep you posted on the updates so make sure to come visit again!

この写真でご覧になっていただけるとおり、今までより倍以上のウィンドウディスプレイになるんですよ～。そして入り口は右側に、これまた以前より倍の広さで皆様をお出迎え致します！
これから更に内装などに時間を掛け、あと一ヵ月半後くらいに再開店の予定です。
その際は又近況報告いたしますので又お楽しみに♪

The Cat in the Hat!

Sig Zane has gotten together with Kicks/Hi, the premier shoe boutique on Oahu and NewEra, the maker of the original fitted cap to bring you, The SigZane+Kicks/Hi+NewEra!
This hat features the Uluwehi Keaukaha print that illustrates a breadfruit tree that grows in Keaukaha on the east side of the Big Island. Focusing on the aesthetics of the Ulu leaf and fruit, this Uluwehi Keaukaha print has made itself a mainstay and staple of Sig Zane's numerous designs.
This limited run will be available on Saturday at Kicks/Hi Oahu, Sig Zane Designs' Hilo and Maui Loacations as well as TheCutlery in Downtown Hilo. Once again, the hat will be released this Saturday January 20th 2007.


シグ・ゼーン・デザインズの新たなコラボ作品登場！
オアフ島にある若者に人気のスニーカー等を主に扱っているブティック、Kicks/Hi、とキャップメーカーとして有名なNew Eraとのコラボ作品であるベースボールキャップが誕生いたしました！
プリントは当社人気のウルヴェヒ・ケアウカハ、というプリント。これはケアウカハというハワイ島のヒロにある地域の名前で、パンの木をモチーフにしたデザインです。
限定商品であることから今週の土曜日、2007年1月20日から発売開始され、オアフ島のKicks/Hi店、シグ・ゼーン・デザインズのヒロ店、ワイルク店、及びウェブサイト、そして新開店したザカトラリーの4店舗のみにて限定販売されます！
どうぞお楽しみに！

Here in Hilo, we are seeing some sunshine finally! We have been blessed with plenty of rain lately, so that's a nice change.
But rain or shine, it doesn't deter a true surfer from going out to catch a wave or two!

アメリカでは月曜日はキング牧師のお誕生日で祭日でした。そしてやっと長い長い雨の日々から脱出か？と、思わせるような陽が今日差しています。サーフィングが日課の某社長は雨だろうと晴れだろうと日課として時間があればこのとおり、海へお出かけ…


And here is one such "surfah" I caught on his way to squeeze some wave time in his busy day!

今日は我らがヒロ出身ローカルボーイのヴァンスKがシグ・ゼーンのシャツを着てシャカポーズ！の写真を送ってくれたのでアップしました。
皆様も御存知の方も多いかと思いますがヴァンスはインターFMの人気DJでもあり、バンド・カヴァイハエのメンバーとしても活躍中。カヴァイハエは去年の１１月にジャパン・ツアー２００６を大盛況のもと終了させたばかり。そのツアーの際も当社のシャツを着てステージで演奏してくれました！
