The Lehua Cloud is in the window!
"Often driving on the Saddle Road, we are treated to the clouds that gather around the kipuka (an opening in a forest)".











Halau O Kekuhi will be performing as the Opening Act to Earth Wind and Fire's concert this Saturday night at 6:50pm at the new concert venue at Queen's Market Place Shopping Center in Waikoloa!









And here is the beautiful view of the Hapuna Beach through the Kiawe tree...

Sig Zane Designs Update & Puakenikeni 2009

Aloha Kakou!
Today is the auspicious eight-eight-eight/08-08-08 day, August 8, 2008... The Beijing Olympics started, and it's TGIF (Thank God It's Friday) too!
So Happy Auspicious Aloha Friday to You All!!!
I'm sure it's going to be an exciting week ahead of us, and here is one exciting "sneak" preview, just for YOU!
The 2009 Merrie Monarch T-shirt printed with a beautiful puakenikeni flowers and 'iwa'iwa fern haku lei. Isn't it pretty? It's called a haku lei, since the style in which the lei was made is woven. I love the contrasts of colors used here too (my favorite color is the purple family).
And here's the reason why I got the chance to know all this, it's because it was the lei that was made by my boss, Sig Zane that is on the t-shirt.

ハワイ時間の今日は2008年8月8日、八並びのぞろ目でかなり末広がりな素晴らしい日になることでしょう・・・北京オリンピックも無事にスタートを切ったようですし、今日は待ちに待った金曜日、ということで、皆様へたくさんの好い事が起こりますように!!
さて、ということで今日はちょっと先取りニュースをご披露しちゃいます。2009年のメリーモナークのＴシャツデザインがこちら。私の大好きな紫色に、薄オレンジ色のプアケニケニとシダのイヴァイヴァを使って作られたハク・レイがプリントされています。ハク・レイ、というのはレイの素材を編み込んで作る手法ですが、なんとこれを作ったのはシグ・ゼーン、私の上司です。彼はレイを作るのがとっても得意で、いつもこのように素敵なレイを作っているんですよ～♪

Yokohama Hawai'i Festival 2008!!!

Aloha Kakou!
It was HOT & HUMID summer in Japan!
I was there for a bit and just got back...
Yokohama Hawai'i Festival was great!
Big Island Visitor's Bureau had a bunch of Hawai'i Island representatives, and Sig Zane Designs was one of the lucky ones who got to be there!
Mahalo nui loa to ALL of you who were there and who came to our booths during the wonderful three days in Yokohama. Hope to see you all again next year...
So enjoy the "album" and a hui hou!!!!

皆様お元気ですか?今年も日本に夏休みを兼ねて行って参りましたが、いや～暑かったです!!!
ヨコハマ・ハワイイ・フェスティバルではハワイ島観光局の皆様と一緒にシグ・ゼーン・デザインズも参加させていただきました♪短い期間でしたが日本の皆様と充実した時間を過ごせました～!大桟橋ホールへお越しいただいた皆様へ、本当にマハロございました!!又来年も皆様にお会いできるのを楽しみにしています♪それではフェスティバル期間に激写(!?)したアルバムをエンジョイしてくださいね。

A Rare and Special Performance in Miyazaki!
