Hope all is well with everyone.
Sorry for the long absence, another computer crisis has kept me away, but I'm trying to survive and I'm here!
Anyway, I'm sure you've all heard (and if you haven't)... The Sig Zane Designs' Maui Wailuku Store is going to close as of January 31, 2008. We will continue operations in Hilo, Big Island, and online at www.sigzane.com.
Yes, Thursday is going to be the last day!
Mahalo to ALL who have been our ohana and friends since 1999, for the last 8 and a half years of the store's operation. All of you will be missed... and as the song says, "until we meet again", and aloha...

We haven't seen a clear blue sky in what seemed ages, and voila, we were treated to this magnificent sight of snow capped Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa. 今日は久しぶりに大きな青空が広がったハワイ島ヒロからこんにちわ♪
このところ本当に雨が多くて寒い日が続いていたのですが、今日のこの綺麗に雪化粧されたマウナケアとマウナロアの山々を見て納得。雨雲の上ではこんなことになっていたんですね。

Hau`oli Makahiki Hou! Happy New Year 2008!!

Okay, so who in Hawai`i wasn't in front of the TV on Tuesday, on New Year's Day to watch the Sugar Bowl Game? Really, even I who usually do not sit in front of a TV set to watch ANY football game sat down and cheered on as University of Hawaii's Warriors battled their game against the University of Georgia's Bulldogs!
Man, the amount of people there who wore white in the stands (white was Hawaii's away uniform color so all the Hawaii contingency wore white) was amazing! It's said that there were about 17,000 people who went from Hawaii to New Orleans to see this game. Awesome amount of people were supporting them both from home and at the game. Although Hawaii did end up losing the game (10-41), at least they all made it to that point and made history by being there.
Warriors, congratulations for your fighting spirit!



元旦の日は毎年さまざまなフットボール大会が全米にて開催されており、中でも今年ハワイでダントツの注目を集めていたのがこちらの全米大学の優勝戦、シュガーボール。

その理由は上のTシャツの写真をご覧頂くとお分かりのように、ハワイ大学のフットボールチームが史上初、この由緒ある大会に参加することになったからなのです！開催場所はニューオーリンズ、相手は手強いジョージア大学。この試合を見るためにハワイからおよそ1万7千人もの人口が移動した、といわれているほど。本土移住組も相当観戦に行ったそうですからその経済効果はいかに！結果的には10-41というスコアでハワイ大学は大敗してしまったのですが、お正月のこの日のハワイ時間の午後3時半から始まる試合を見る為にほとんどの人がテレビ観戦をしていたはず…（私も漏れなくその一人でした！）Go Warriors！
