Here in Hilo, it was beautiful!
The Jacaranda flowers are at full bloom now. Aren't they just gorgeous? I love this flower, and the blooming of this flower always reminds me of this season and month of May in Hawai`i as that's the time I moved to Hilo 5 years ago! So this was the welcoming flower as I started out here!

お元気ですか？もう又週末がやってきますが先週末はメモリアル･デーという祭日で、月曜日がお休みでした。毎週月曜日がお休みだったら良かったのに･･･と思ったのは私だけでしょうか♪？ヒロのお天気は毎日こんな綺麗な青空が続く快晴で夏到来、といった感じです。この時期に咲くジャカランダというラベンダー色の花、美しいですよね。私の大好きな花です。丁度5年前にヒロに移住した頃もこの花がお出迎えしてくれました。なのでジャカランダの花が咲き始めるとああ又一年･･･といった感じで私にとって時の経過を知らせてくれる存在です。

In Hilo, over the weekend, there was the Second Annual Hilo Inter-Tribal Powwow held at the Wailoa State Park.
This will be held every year over the Memorial Day Weekend, so if you've missed it this year, make sure to check-it out next year to see the various dance demonstrations by the participating tribes people, children's crafts, and shops!

さて、先週ここヒロでちょっと珍しいイベントが開催されていました。今年で2年目となる恒例イベントですが、第二回ヒロ･インタートライバル･パウワウ、というタイトルのイベントで、アメリカ原住民(ネイティブ･アメリカン)人達の集会が開かれていたんです！ネイティブ･アメリカンの人々との文化交流を目的とした集会で、各参加種族の踊りの披露や、クラフトショップ、それに子供達が参加できるクラフト等も設けてあるので家族で楽しめます。毎年この時期に開催されるそうなので来年是非お立ち寄りください！

Here she is doing the women's dance. A very dignified style as opposed to the men's style which is more energetic.


こちらの方は女性の踊りを披露しているのですが、男性の動きの激しい踊りと違って、とても威厳のある静かな踊り。衣装がとても素敵でした！





This young dancer captured my eyes as he had the most spirited dance. His costume was also beautiful as well.

そしてこちらは男性の部の踊りのデモ。この青年の踊りと衣装が一番目をひきつけました。

This, during the sunny day was the best spot at the event!Mahalo and a hui hou!

お天気の良い日はやはりこんな感じで木陰にいるのがサイコーですよね！一番の特等席で出番の合間に休憩する青年。絵になるな～
