Howzit!? It's Been A Long While...

I know it's been a long while since I've updated from my last entry, and I hope all of you have been having a wonderful time, in the meantime!

A bit of a technical glitch kept me away from being able to get in here, but I'm BACK!

Lots have happened since so allow me to share with you through a brief photo/text rundown on the excitement that's happened around here...

Well, do you see the man on the right on the cover of the Maui News? That's His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama, who had paid a visit to Maui on April 24 & 25. Next, see the man on the left with an orange colored Sig Zane Designs Silk Pareu, in the same newspaper? That's my boss, Sig Zane himself, who attended the lectures given by His Holiness. I participated through the webcam broadcasting at my office (thank you to nice and cool AC), and lo and behold, my boss attracted attention by getting some camera time on the jumbo tron and webcam as well... the lens just loved Sig (or was it our beautiful pareu that did the trick?!)

Anyway, the Dalai Lama's basic message was, to have compassion! So let's share the Aloha Spirit ya'll!

そしてお久しぶりです！ちょっとしたテクノロジーとのバトルで書き込みができない状態をやっと打破！今日から復帰いたしました～♪お元気でしたか?これから今までアップデートできなかった御報告等、色々とこの数週間の間のお話しをさせていただきますね。

さて、先ずトップバッターはこの方！こちらの写真でもご覧になっていただけるように、なんと14世ダライラマ法王がマウイ島へ御来島されました。もちろん地元では連日新聞一面で扱われるビッグニュース。そんな一大ニュースの記事に当社の社長であるシグの写真が！この写真の左にオレンジのスカーフを頭に被っているのが社長です！オレンジ色の当社のパレウをかぶっているため目だったのか、会場のジャンボトロンにもその姿が映し出されていました！私は、というとしっかりヒロのオフィスで涼しいエアコンの効いた部屋で法王の講演をウェブキャムからの中継でキャッチ。さすがにシグの顔が突然画面に登場したときは驚きましたよ～♪

さて、法王のお言葉で一番心に残ったのは、「慈悲の心をもつこと」、というお言葉でした。

さあ、みんなでアロハスピリットを分かち合いましょう！

Well, it was this past Saturday May 5th, but we celebrated the Boy's Day in Hilo!

As shown here, you can see the Koi/Carp swimming in our store windows.

Happy be-lated Boy's Day to all the boys in the world!

Boy's Day is celebrated traditionally in Japan as Tango no Sekku, as a day to wish for a strong and healthy growth of a boy in the family. It is now known as Children's Day. It's a day that all families with children will fly a carp streamer representing each member of the family.

Well, gotta go now! Will catch up again very soon!

日系人の人口の多いヒロでは5月5日の「こどもの日」は「ボーイズ･デー」として知られています。もちろんこれは日本の端午の節句のお祝いのことなんですが、こちらでもこいのぼりがいろいろなところで目にすることができます。我が家でも小さなやつを上げました。こちらの写真はヒロ店のショーウィンドーの様子。シグが飾り付けをし、写真もシグが取った写真なんんですよ～！

遅ればせながら世界中の子供達へ、ボーイズデー、オメデトウ!!!
