NEW Renovated Store is OPEN!

We are back at our new "old" nest at 122 Kamehameha Avenue! We're loving it because it's absolutely beautiful!
There is no other store like it in Hilo... and with the high ceiling and spacious floor area, there's plenty to see inside the store.
So you've got to come out and experience it for yourself.
Our newly remodeled and expanded Sig Zane Designs' Hilo Store... a must see spot when you are in Hilo!

Store hours are same as before...

Mon ~ Fri 9:30am to 5:00pm

Sat 9am to 4pm

Closed on Sundays...

Aloha Kakou and a Happy New Year or Kung Hee Fat Choy!
Yes, now we have welcomed the Lunar New Year, and here in Hilo, we had a very festive and exciting weekend to celebrate the Year of the Boar!
It is indeed going to be a very exciting time.
Just to let you know, we are going to be operating in the newly renovated store from a week from today.
That is, Monday February 26 from 9:30am, we'll be BACK in our original location at 122 Kamehameha Avenue!

ここハワイ島ヒロの週末はチャイニーズ・ニュー・イヤー、ということで大変賑やかなお祭りが行われたばかりです。丁度1月18日が今年初めての新月だったのですね。

ということで新しい年に入ってとてもエクサイティングなことが盛りだくさん！来週の月曜日、2月26日からハワイ島のヒロ店は仮店舗から本店である122　カメハメハ通りに移り、大きなお店となって再営業開始いたします！と～っても広く綺麗になっていますので皆様お楽しみに！

Year of the Golden Boar!

Yes, it's almost coming... the Year of the Golden Boar (and it's supposed to come around only every 600 years, so just think how lucky we are)!

So here's what's in the store at Sig Zane Designs to commemorate and celebrate this very auspicious time! This is our annual Chinese Zodiac New Year T-Shirt, and it's offered in both adult and children's sizes. Check out our website store for these offerings, and let's all celebrate it together!

今週末は中国の暦ではお正月、いわゆる旧正月、ということでヒロの町も恒例のChinese New Yearのお祭りで賑わうことが予想されます。

そこでシグ・ゼーン・デザインズからの恒例の干支T-シャツが販売されました！

今年はイノシシが干支の動物なのですが、なんと６００年に一度しか巡ってこないという黄金のイノシシの年なのだそうですよ！なのでとっても運気が上るらしいので、一緒に盛り上がりましょう！ウェブサイトでも販売しておりますのでどうぞよろしくお願いいたします！

Surf's Up in Maui!

Aloha Everyone!

It's been a bit rainy in Maui lately, and the surf was up yesterday!

皆様へアローハ！
このところマウイ島は雨続き。昨日は波もあってちょっとエクサイティングな感じでした。

Despite the weather, our ohana and friend Kathy Nakajima and her family dropped by to visit us in Maui, and brought a bit of sunshine to our Sig Zane Designs Wailuku store!
Standing here in front of the store on North Market Street, are Sig, Kathy and her husband/actor Mr. Hiroshi Katsuno!

お天気はちょっと…でしたが、キャシー中島御夫妻と御家族がシグ・ゼーン・デザインズのマウイ島ワイルク店まで遊びにいらしてくださいました！キャシーさんとご家族の暖かいお人柄に触れ、一瞬雨のマウイに太陽が差したような感じになりました。
そこでノース・マーケットストリートに面したお店の前でキャシーさんと御主人の勝野洋さんとシグの3人で記念撮影をパチリ。
有難うございました！とっても楽しかったです♪

How is your week coming along?
Here's something very "nani" to look at (and I hope you agree)... it's this window display at our Sig Zane Designs Hilo shop!
It is our new Pepe`euhola print, in various styles we have available in the stores now.

2月になりました！皆様如何お過ごしですか?
今週のシグ・ゼーン・デザインズ、ヒロ店のウィンドウディスプレイが余りにも綺麗なので(自画自賛?!)見てください！
こちらにあるのは新作のプリント、ペペエホルア、です。この柄のプリントされた商品がこちら、ショーウィンドウに飾ってあるアイテムです。


The styles that are diplayed are; Men's Handkerchief Linen `A`lahonua Shirt, Women's Hulale`a Dress, Men's Buttondown Shirt, and Women's Manamana Dress.
商品名はメンズ・ハンカチーフ・リネン・アアラホヌア・シャツ、レディーズ・フラレア・ドレス、メンズ・ボタンダウン・シャツ、それにレディーズ・マナマナ・ドレス、です。


And look at what our window display artist did... he wove the palm leaf into a shape that resembles the fern! How "nani" and ingenious is that!? A beautiful presentation indeed, so come check it out while the display is on, okay?

こちらがディスプレイに使われている椰子の葉ですが、当店のウィンドウ・ディスプレイ・アーティストはこちらを編んでシダの新芽の形を表現しているんです！素晴しいセンスですよね(と、又自画自賛?といってもやったのは私ではありません)！

Uluwehi O Ke Kai!

Aloha Kakou!
This past week went by so fast, it's been already a week since my last update!
Well, the weather has been amazing lately too, so that may be the reason for this delay...
Anyway, I got a chance to take this very special ohana photo of Nalani singing and playing her ukulele while Sig and Kuha`o danced to Aunty Edith Kanaka`ole's (Nalani's mother) most famous song, "Uluwehi O Ke Kai". What a pleasure it was to hear this joyful song about the ocean performed at the perfect setting, along with the dancing to convey the song's meaning. What a delicious moment it was!

御無沙汰しております！
最後の書き込みから既に1週間が経ってしまいました。今週はお天気も快晴でとっても気持ちの良い週でした！
さて、珍しい家族写真が撮れたので御紹介いたします。ナラニがウクレレを弾いて歌っているのは彼女の母であるイーディス・カナカオレが作詞作曲した有名な歌、｢ウルヴェヒ・オ・ケ・カイ」。その伴奏に合わせて踊っているのはシグと息子のクハオ。丁度海の幸を題材にした歌を海を背景に聞く、見る、ことができたなんて、かなり贅沢でとってもラッキー！思わず写真を撮りました。
